Branding for Oxford IT Company
Oxford Home IT Support had a problem. In 30 years of business, their services had totally outgrown their name, and their visual identity was totally at odds with what they now do. The company focuses on small businesses and high-end home users, and offer everything from computer repairs to web hosting and VOIP telephone systems. “It had come to the stage where business clients were saying, ‘I want to refer you, but the name puts me off!'” said director Richard Hillsdon.
When they came in for their Brand Clarity Clinic it was obvious that they are not the average IT company. These guys are obsessive about customer service, and keeping things simple for non-techies is at the heart of everything they do. We decided to make this central to the messaging: I.T. is supposed to make your life simpler, not harder, and technology is there to help you get the job done.
Of course, the name had to go. It took some time, but we kept coming back to the idea that ‘techies’ should make your life easier. So ‘Tekeez‘ was the winner. A one-word name that was easy to trademark, with the bonus of a very tidy URL www.tekeez.it.
We carried the light-hearted, approachable concept into the visual identity and core messaging, communicating their brand values in manifesto-style statements that reflect their customer-centric approach, creating the strong Tekeez branding it has become. Initially nervous about rebranding, the Tekeez team are overjoyed with the result – a brand that encapsulates everything they believe in and stand for.

“We’re all very excited about the new name and all the new possibilities the brand gives us.”
“Initially we were concerned about the branding exercise – that we might not like what you came up with. We needn’t have worried. After the presentation we were all excited that you had ‘got us’, ‘got it’ and ‘got the message’. The name ideas, the messages and the branding were all spot on and we knew that our money was being well spent.”
“Our dream was to have a one word name, followed by ‘.it’ and you’ve made it happen. Our small business users love the brand, and it doesn’t alienate our home-user clients. Just perfect.”Richard Hillsdon – Tekeez
