Oxford City Council approached us to work on a Tenancy Fraud Campaign. The aim of the project was to make Council Tenants who are illegally subletting Council property aware that as long as they hand the keys back between a certain time, there will be no recrimination and no questions asked. We needed to get plenty of publicity in order to maximise the amnesty window, and make the public aware of the campaign.
We focused on communicating the repercussions of not taking the up the amnesty with stern, clear warnings to tenants that they have two choices and to come clean on sub-letting, to do the right thing. Using bold imagery and striking headlines – we really wanted to catch the attention of the public to ensure they wouldn’t forget about the campaign. Reinforcing that the council is tackling Tenancy Fraud, cracking down on illegal sub-letters.
We produced a series of advertisements for Oxford throughout September – October. The ads acted as constant reminder to come clean on Tenancy Fraud and to report anyone known to be sub-letting. A good number of people acted as a result, and the Council are still calculating the value of the savings made.
